A note about our recent downtime

January 14th, 2012

My apologies to anyone who tried to access Roy’s Toys yesterday (13th January) from 2pm onwards. An error was encountered which made the site inaccessible for the rest of the day. I can confirm everything has now been fixed and is back to normal, and that no data was lost or compromised during this time.

I apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Ocarina of Time Dark Link Statue and other new products!

November 10th, 2011

We have just got a new wave of products in from a vast collection of game series which any gamer would love!

Firstly we’ve got a batch of new keyrings from Legend of Zelda,  Super Mario Bros and Gears of War. We’ve now got enough keyrings that I felt they justified their own category, so be sure to check out the new keyrings category.

Some of our keyrings collection.

We’ve also expanded our apparel category with some hats from Super Mario Bros. You can choose from the stylish Super Mario Flexifit Hat (pictured below) or our Goomba baseball cap.

The piece we are most proud of, however, is the The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time – Dark Link Statue.

This limited edition statue stands 12″/30cm and features an incredible amount of detail. This is for the serious collectors only and is limited to 2,500 pieces worldwide so if this is the sort of thing you love then hurry before they’re all gone!

Top 10 Minecraft Creations

August 28th, 2011

If you have somehow managed to miss out on the phenomenon that is Minecraft then you really should take the time to check it out. It’s a very open ended game but at its heart it is basically a building sim – you will primarily find yourself building using a palette of blocks, which make up the very foundation of the world. It sounds very simple and it is but those with a penchant for creativity have been able to come up with some amazing creations using just these simple tools and it is that which will be the focus of this post. For clarity this list is sticking purely to video game related creations, as that is our area of business (sadly no Minecraft merchandise exists as of yet. When can we stock Creeper plushies, Notch!?).

# 10 – Mario

It's-a me, Mario!

Of course, how could we make any list without including a classic? This was virtually one of the first things created when people got their hands on Minecraft (check out the version number in the top left corner!) which really shows you just how deeply Mario has penetrated video game culture. It is however fairly simple, essentially being a pixel-for-block recreation of the Mario sprite from the original Super Mario Bros. so it can’t place any higher than 10 on the list.

# 9 – Pokéball House

So this is what being a Pokémon feels like...

Next up is a house built in the shape of a Pokéball. It’s a very faithful recreation, which can be tricky to do in the blocky world of Minecraft but even better is you are confronted with a Diglett as soon as you get inside. Not only have they placed a Pokémon inside their Pokéball, but inside that Pokémon is a house complete with bunk beds!

#8 – Minesweeper

/p>

Minesweeper probably isn’t the first thing that pops to mind when you think of video games but if you ask someone if they’ve played Minesweeper chances are they’ll say yes.  It’s killed many hours in its time and some people have taken it to extreme lengths and has spawned entire communities dedicated to solving it in the fastest time. It’s there probably not that surprising that someone has recreated Minesweeper inside of Minecraft, as a sort of game within a game, although unfortunately you can’t flag suspected mines and it looks like the layout is the same each time you play.

No longer using HSBC Secure E-Payments

July 25th, 2011

As of today we are now no longer using HSBC Secure E-Payments as an option for payment, meaning currently our only method of receiving payment is via PayPal. You can of course still use a credit or debit card to pay through PayPal without having to have a PayPal account. I am currently looking into adding other payment options which will be added in due time; any suggestions are welcome.

Change of Payment Options

June 29th, 2011

Apologies for the radio silence and lack of stock recently; we have been having some issues with our supplier which should be resolved now and we should be restocking tomorrow!

With this I would also like to mention that in the coming days we will be altering the way you will be able to pay for your orders on Roy’s Toys. We will be dropping the credit card processing option from HSBC due to a variety of options. We will still be keeping PayPal and if you do not have a PayPal account you are still able to use it and pay using your credit or debit card.

We will be looking in to adding a few more payment options for those of you who do not wish to use PayPal for whatever reason and will keep you updated.

Removing Video Games

March 30th, 2011

I’ve been messing around with the main categories on the main site today and I have condensed the ‘Wii’ and ‘Nintendo DS’ heading categories into one simply called ‘Video Games’. This has been greatly reduced in size and mostly contains products that we have left over as we are starting to shift our focus from all things Nintendo into a more general collectibles website. As such we will no longer be stocking new video games or consoles and will not be stocking the Nintendo 3DS.

There will be more news about this in the coming days as we prepare to stock some brand new merchandise from series such as Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts!

Sonic the Hedgehog invades Roy’s Toys!

March 29th, 2011

Sonic the Hedgehog and his friends have invaded Roy’s Toys! We’ve got some brand new Sonic the Hedgehog merchandise in up on our shop for all you Sonic fans out there!

These figurines are brand new and taken straight from the hit Sonic All Star Racing series. We’re looking to increase the amount of Sonic the Hedgehog merchandise we stock now that we can no longer acquire the wildly popular 10″ Metal Sonic Figurines.

We’re also going to start categorising products by series/brand. This will make it easier for fans of Sonic to find just Sonic stuff as well as allow us to easily open up to more product ranges as we grow. Look out for more in coming updates!
